The Organic Sulla Honey by Le Delizie di Bergi is a Sicilian organic honey produced in the Madonie area, obtained from the flowering of sulla (Hedysarum coronarium), a plant deeply rooted in Mediterranean agriculture.
This honey was awarded the Silver Medal at the BIOL MIEL 2025 Award, an international competition dedicated to excellence in organic honey production.
The award recognizes not only the quality of the final product, but also the beekeeper’s work, respect for natural cycles and the biodiversity of the territory of origin, confirming the company’s commitment to authentic and transparent organic production.
The company works exclusively with the Sicilian Black Bee (Apis mellifera siciliana), an autochthonous subspecies recognized as a Slow Food Presidia, particularly suited to the Sicilian environment and spontaneous blooms.
This choice allows for sustainable honey production, closely connected to landscape and seasonality.
Sulla is a leguminous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family and is widely found in the Madonie area.
It is valued both as a forage crop and for its agronomic role, as it naturally contributes to soil regeneration. Flowering occurs between April and June, painting the landscape with deep red and purple tones and providing a particularly delicate nectar.
Sulla honey has a very light color, almost ivory.
It naturally crystallizes after approximately three to four months, developing a soft, creamy and spreadable texture.
This honey is characterized by an extremely delicate flavor, with light vegetal and occasionally fruity notes.
The aroma is subtle and often described as a light honey scent with hints of hay and dried grasses.
Thanks to its gentle profile and balanced sweetness, it is especially suitable for everyday consumption, ideal for breakfast, yogurt or for sweetening hot beverages without overpowering their flavor.
